When summer comes around, parents are always looking for ways to entertain their keiki. Camp is a great way for kids to experience adventure, learn new skills, and even make life-long friends. There are a ton of amazing camps for parents to choose from on Oahu. Here are our top 6 summer camp recommendations for keiki in 2023:
Day | Ages 11 to 17 | Free | 1 Week Sessions
Six, one-week-long programs will be offered at different beach parks across Oahu: Ehukai, Nanakuli, Kailua, Makaha, Waimanalo and Ala Moana. Open to keiki ages 11 to 17, this FREE program runs Monday through Friday from 9am to 2pm. In this camp, keiki will learn ocean safety awareness and valuable life saving skills from some of Oahu's finest ocean safety instructors.

Overnight | Ages 7-16 | Starting at $2,295/keiki | 1 & 2 Week Sessions
Aloha Beach Camp is an overnight summer camp located right on the beach of Oahu’s North Shore, just 45 minutes away from Honolulu. The camp offers both a 1-week and a 2-week overnight summer session within its two weeks of operation from Monday, July 31st to Saturday, August 12th. Campers sleep in cabins right on the beach and can partake in activities that are beach-centered and very cultural to Hawaii. Activities include snorkeling, kayaking, surfing, swimming with sea turtles, beach excursions, Hawaiian arts and crafts, and more. The 1-week session costs $2,295/camper and the 2-week session costs $4,600/camper and all meals, room, and board are included in this price. Day & Overnight Camp | Different Programs For Different Ages & Sessions
Located on the North Shore of Oahu, Camp Mokule'ia is a faith-based camp that does focus on faith in all daily activities. The camp offers several different packages and camp types including both overnight and day sessions for campers in addition to an “adventure camp” where campers go out on excursions and trips. For the overnight sessions, campers stay 6 days and 5 nights at the camp and have a different schedule with different activities each day. Additionally, they offer a “mini” overnight camp for those in younger grades looking to try the overnight camp out for 3 days and 2 nights. The typical camp day starts around 7:00 am and ends around 10:00 pm with the overnight camp rates starting around $500.
The day camp is for campers in grades 1st through 5th with the typical camp day beginning at 8:00 am and ending 4:00 pm. Throughout the day, campers participate in a ton of activities including arts & crafts, swimming, and spiritual formations. The day camp starts at $200.
Day & Overnight Camps | Grades K-5 | Starting at $715-$750 per Camper
Camp Erdman is a camp through the YMCA, offering a regular day camp as well as a 5-night, 6-day camp for grades K-5. Hosting both Hawaii residents and out of state residents, campers can experience all that Hawaii has to offer including hiking, swimming, and other fun sports. Campers can include other “add-ons” to the traditional camp experience including surf camp, horse camp, climbing camp, and adventure camp. Campers can also opt in to a “sampler” of all the add on activities. Rates for this camp begin around $750 for out of state residents and $715 for Hawaii residents. Room and all meals are included in this pricing.
Day Camp | Ages 5-12 | Prices available at check out | 6, 1-Week Sessions
Kidzart and Club Scientific Hawaii offer a wide variety of summer camp options that are fun and unique for ages 5-12. Camps will be running all summer long from May 29th to August 11th. Each camp session has an exciting theme that inspires a week-long’s worth of amazing art work. Campers can participate in as many of these week-long sessions they wish. The typical camp day is from around 9:00am to 2:00pm. Campers must register to participate and prices are available upon check out.
Overnight Camp | Ages 13-17 entering grades 8-12 | $2,695/camper | 10 Day Sessions
Science Camps of America offers two different camps: Land & Sea and Air & Space. These camps are primarily through teenagers ages 13-17 entering grades 8-12. They accept campers who are local as well as international.
The Land & Sea camp allows teens to learn more about oceans, forests, volcanoes, and the Hawaii environment. Campers can participate in a variety of activities including hiking volcanoes, swimming with turtles, and exploring the Hawaiian environment. The Air & Space camp allows campers to learn more about the climate, solar panels and solar wind, astronomy, swimming, space, and much more. Both of these camps cost $2,695 per camper per session. This camp takes place on the Big Island of Hawaii and campers must register and pay in full before May 25th.
